1st v 5th in the World……

For a Scotsman watching the Six Nations this year there is a lot to be hopeful for; for the Irish, a lot to be proud of. With 2 more games to go, a Triple Crown is available for both sides (cant remember the last time I said that), and a chance to all but seal a title for the Irish….welcome to Round 4 of the Six Nations 2023.

As a group we get together in Youghal to watch rugby, have a social drink or two and be socially awkward whilst singing and dancing like we were 21 again.

The travelling contingent leave Edinburgh Airport in the wee hours of Friday morning for the trek across the Irish Sea. Before heading to Youghal, there is a scheduled breakfast and culture stop off in the city of Cork. Saturday is when things get a bit tasty; we formally kick off the tour, get some buddies paired up and then settle down to watch Joel’s proud Welshmen try to win their first game of this years tournament against a much improved Italian side. As it stands the Italians have scored more, conceded about the same but gained a bonus point in their three defeats. Wales look in desperate need of a win, or a performance….not confident either will happen given their showings and distractions of late. After which we get to cheer on France, before dancing and singing the night away.

The real show takes place at Murrayfield Stadium on Sunday, we will get together wearing our new Rugby tops and hope for another entertaining match. Both sides have shown some really strong set piece and can run with ball in hand given the opportunity. It promises to be an exciting game. May the best team win but more importantly, lets stay safe and have some fun….we only get to do this once a year!
